Integrative, Eclectic and Progressive
About Gisele
I work collaboratively with my clients on their healing journey. I pull from many therapeutic styles depending on what will be the most beneficial to the individual I am working with. I am a sex and kink-positive therapist who works with individuals looking to improve their self-awareness, heal from past traumas, and better handle life’s challenges.
My approach to therapy focuses on helping my clients find themselves; I emphasize the value of self-worth and the practices that embrace and cultivate it without self-absorption. Normalcy is relative and I encourage my clients to explore what their definition of normal is for themselves rather than measuring their thoughts, actions, and emotions against external standards. As your therapist, I act as an open-minded, unbiased, and nonjudgmental third party who can reflect with you, challenge you, and help guide you toward better insight into yourself and the world around you.
Education and Experience
I am an Licensed Mental Health Counselor and have practicing for 7 years. I earned my Master’s of Arts degree in Mental Health Counseling from the Weissman School of Arts and Sciences at Baruch College.
For several years I worked as a therapist for NYC Well, a mental health crisis hotline. We received calls from individuals all over the city struggling with anything from anxiety and depression, bullying and domestic violence to suicidal and homicidal ideation. I worked with the city's mobile crisis units, the NYPD and hospitals to help treat and triage those in need.
Following this period of time, I entered into private practice and continued my training in a Post Graduate Fellowship program at Intrinpsych Woman. My training included Dialectical Behavior Therapy skills (DBT), Eating Disorder Treatment and System Centered Therapy (SCT).
