FAQ

Are you doing in person or online only?

I am providing therapy and professional services online via a virtual video platform and in person.

How does therapy work?

Therapy works in many ways. Sometimes having a safe space to talk, reflect and challenge yourself helps us to feel better over time. Sometimes having specific goals that we work on achieving together feels more effective. Whatever you are looking for in therapy, I strive to help you feel accepted, seen, heard and to be an unbiased third party to the story of your life.

How long are therapy sessions?

45 minutes for individual sessions.

60 minutes for couples sessions.

What is your cancellation policy?

I have a 24 hour cancellation policy. Cancelling without proper notice will incur a full fee of the session.

Do you take insurance?

I am in-network with Optum, Aetna and Unitedhealthcare. However, I reserve a certain number of session slots for Clients with in-network insurance coverage and all are currently filled. Please feel free to reach out if you would like to be put on a waiting list and/or to discuss my session fee and sliding scale options.

Can I use out-of-network benefits?

Yes! Many insurance companies provide partial or full reimbursement for out of network therapy. With that in mind, I provide monthly superbills that can be submitted for your insurance for reimbursement.

How do I know if I have out-of-network benefits?

To understand the coverage benefits available, you can call the number on the back of your insurance card and ask:

  • Do I have out-of-network mental/behavioral health benefits?

  • How much is my out-of-network deductible before I am reimbursed?

  • Has any of this deductible already been met?

  • What is the rate covered by my insurance for outpatient psychotherapy (CPT code 90834) for the zip code 10016?

How much does therapy cost?

Please contact me to discuss my session fee. I offer a sliding scale for individuals without insurance or whose insurance does not cover mental health therapy.

 Is therapy confidential?

Everything that we talk about in session is confidential, with three exceptions.

As a mandated reporter, I would be required to break confidentiality if (1) you are in immediate harm to yourself, (2) immediate harm to others or (3) if child or elder abuse has occurred.
